In Appreciation Autumn Autumnal Christmas Family Favorite Time of Year Festive Friends Happy Kindness october Remembrance Together Winter

Favorite time of Year

Around October, the leaves turn orange and collect on the ground, the days become shorter and colder. Autumn is in full swing and pumpkins are literally everywhere! From Halloween right through to the New Year it really is my favorite time. I never really thought of why I love this time of year until now.

I love the smells of Autumn, the colours, the comfort food, wearing cosy jumpers and sipping on hot drinks. It also reminds me of family and that thought of celebration, from birthdays to Christmas, a lot seems to happen in these glorious months. I think it all stems from childhood, September you go back to school, see all of your friends and feel like a family. Then I have family both here and not that have birthdays in these months. This reminds me of the old days sitting in a restaurant celebrating a birthday and going for a short stroll along the river. Fireworks night, not only my grandad's birthday but also a day to marval in the awe of the light displays. Even now, driving at night and seeing all the lights flash in different areas still gives me that same feeling I had as a kid.

The nights get even longer and colder and November rolls in and cosy jumpers, coats and boots come out. I start to feel really festive and cosy, with the night journeys giving me joy seeing all the street lights mixed with christmas lights from those who got in early. Warm soup for dinner just warms my soul and then December comes knocking. It is then the true festive feeling comes into play. With Christmas songs on full blast and decorations going up, you can't help but feel warm and fuzzy. Seeing the lights on houses to visiting London to see all the displays, I just love it. I remember decorating the house in those foil decorations, glitter, lights and paper snowflakes. Christmas seemed so precious, seeing all the family and eating food to opening presents. As a kid it is the best day of the year and the one day we all, even still wish for snow. I remember when I was younger and visiting my uncle and aunty at Christmas and we would have slight snow, it was the best thing in the whole world, just a blanket of white.

As I get older, some of these things I don't really get time for. Halloween is more makeup that just the thrill of Trick Or Treating (Not that I ever did), Christmas is more practical gifts and then back to work. New Years is now just another day. But, I still get that feeling that I am a child again, and all I want to do is be with family all cosy and happy. No matter what age I am, I will still get that homely feeling this time of year and it will always remind me of the great times I had and the wonderful people in my life.

Sorry for the smooshy post, but I had to share my love for Autumn and all my family and friends. And that even if you feel alone there are always people there for you, and you can show kindness to others. No matter how small your kindness is from a smiley to inviting someone over for coffee, these small acts will stay with people forever. Kindness is priceless!

Stay Gorgeous
