Escape The Rain For A Little While!

Rain? Who said it was always raining in September?
If it is, let’s put things straight from the start: it’s because you’re in the wrong country! The summer isn’t over yet – don’t believe your calendar or the weather forecast. There’s still plenty of time to plan a getaway in the best sunny spots around the Med and fuel your body with plenty of healthy vitamin D. If you're not too sure what vitamin D is about, it’s the vitamin that causes the SAD syndrome in winter. It comes directly from the sunlight – hence you are more sensitive to its shortage during the colder months of the year. Admittedly, you can also find other sources in the food you eat, but you’ll get the best intake from the sun. Here’s how to get a healthy dose of sunshine before the winter!

Holiday resorts are still open
What kind of holidaymaker are you? If you love a partying place that speaks your language no matter what, Ibiza is still open for business. From sandy beaches to delicious food, you'll find everything you need and much more to recharge your batteries and forget everything about the back-to-work / back-to-school stress. The temperatures are still warm until mid-October so that you only need to pack a light cardigan to be comfortable. Can you even swim? The answer is yes; the water stays warm until December!

Dive into history and pasta
If swimming and partying isn’t your thing, you can find plenty of other exciting spots. Italy, for instance, is a favourite in early autumn as you can get access to most touristic areas without any of the queues! When you know that tourists can queue on average over 2 hours to see Pompeii in summer, you can book your tour with WhereToRome to spend a day visiting not only the site but also the Naples region now. In fact, now is the best time to visit open-air museums and sites such as Pompeii when the weather is still warm, but the crowds are long gone.

Hiking by the Med
If you’d rather have a sporty getaway; head to Corsica where the autumnal colours welcome you into the rural part of the island. Labelled the Island of Beauty, Corsica combines beautiful beaches and rocky mountains. You can even enjoy a hike through its central mountainous region. The weather remains warm – and you might need sunscreen protection for hiking – but comfortable. You can also observe the landscape gradually puts on its red and orange shades as you climb through the rocky paths. Pure relaxation.

A sunny town with a magical bookstore
Portugal is a favourite destination for British tourists because it’s a rather inexpensive country. However, with its coast along the ocean, the water is too cold to swim all year round. Besides, Porto, its top destination has changing weather. But you can enjoy sunny days and head to the Lello bookshop when the sky turns grey. You’ll feel like in a Harry Potter film!

Whether you’re a party-goer, an enthusiastic hiker or a culture enthusiast, a tour around the Med will recharge your body in vitamin D and keep you entertained. Italy, Portugal, Corsica, Spain; the choice is all yours!

Stay Gorgeous
