Skin Care Warriors

I love makeup, I'm addicted to it, but what happens when all that slap comes off?? I'm oily and prone to acne, and this makeup can take its toll. I wish I knew back when I first started using makeup what I know now. Its all about perfecting that base, and I'm not talking about foundation. As a makeup artist, I know that having a good base really helps anything you add to it look flawless. I have got into a regiment of a skin care routine, but some days my skin can look crappy. These crappy skin days can put my skin back and make my makeup look 10 times worse. When these days hit, it's battle stations and my warriors of beauty come out to play.

These pads are incredible, they really remove the dirt, grime and oils on the face. I love using these when my skin needs a refresh. They contain glycolic acid, which is great at fighting acne and removes dead skin. Leaving the skin looking bright, soft and fresh. They are very similar to the Nip and Fab Glycolic Acid Pads. The only thing about these kinds of pads, you need to make sure you wash it off fully. It is acid (weaker of course) so it can be harsh on sensitive skin, so I wouldn't recommend if you have sensitive skin. But overall, if you need a skin pick me up this could be just what you need.

A wonderful product, further smoothing the skin. It really removes the dead skin from the surface of the face. When I feel like my nose feels clogged up and rough, I grab this guy and rub it in. You literally see the skin ball up as you rub (yeah that does sound gross). My skin feels dramatically smoother and brighter and makes me feel so much better. I highly recommend this product as it really does wonders to the skin, perfect.

W.Lab All Clear Face Mask ($20 (£8 in TK Maxx))
A Korean face mask that I truly cannot live without. Similar to Lush Mask of Magnaminty, it is a mint face mask which also contains witch hazle. It really helps remove excess oil and fight blemishes. It is such a trooper and if you see it, grab it you won't regret it. I've found a lot of Asian/Korean skin care is some of the best I have tried.

Toner is largely using in Korean/Asian skin care routines, and I think is a must for any skin care routine. It is just about choosing the right toner for your skin needs. I have been using the Alpha H Liquid Rose Gold Toner and it has changed my life. The original Liquid Gold formula, helps smooth the skin and help remove excess oils. With the Rose Gold formula, it also contains properties which help also moisturise the skin without adding oils. I don't know how this little guy does it but I am never going back, though I may need to change to the Liquid Gold as the Rose Gold is currently limited edition.
Pro Tip; Look online and compare stores, some will be on offer or cheaper elsewhere. Also look out for student discounts and discount codes, Cult Beauty always has discount codes which I recommend checking out.

This guy is thick, and I mean thick! Most night creams are generally thicker to give you the best nourishment possible, and as our bodies repair themselves over night, it is a great way to add that extra help. This cream is designed to plump and smooth out the face, as if you were stung by a bee or bitten by a venomous snake. It doesn't have venom in it but it really does what it says on the tin. I makes my skin feel more plump and most of all smooth. After bad skin days my skin feels rough even after all those other steps, this guy just brings it all back. Plus having smoother skin makes applying makeup so much easier, and doesn't look so porridge like (you know, that look where drag queens haven't blocked their brows properly). I'd highly recommend this to anyone with issues like this as well as those wanting to fight wrinkles.
Pro Tip; Head to TK Maxx/TJ Maxx and look in the skin care isle, you can find it there cheaper and is just as good. That's where I get mine.

Finally water! Simple but so needed. You'll find that increasing your water intake on these rough days will really do wonders to your skin. A lot of skin complaints can come from dehydration. When your body is dehydrated, the water is generally recirculated internally, drawing water away from the skin. This can in turn cause your skin to become dry and cracked, it can also cause break outs and even oily skin. I know who would have though being dehydrated would make you more oily. It's all to do with the oil ducts on the skin, without hydration and water, the oil will begin to build up causing the oily appearance. So, keep hydrated your skin will improve and give you that model flawlessness.

After detoxifying my skin and nourishing it over night, I wake up looking fresh and glowing. great to get me back on track. These guys have been my heroes for months now and I couldn't live without them.

What are your top tips to keeping your skin healthy??

Stay Gorgeous
