Kick Back In The Big Smoke: Have a Relaxing Afternoon in London

Let’s be honest, ‘London’ and ‘relaxation’ aren’t two words you’d usually hear in the same sentence. The Big Smoke is more of a busy and bustling, vibrant and exciting place to be- however that doesn’t mean to say that your trip has to be all go go go. If you’re heading down to the capital and fancy something more chilled then here are just a few options you could consider.

Go to a Spa
Perhaps after a busy day of shopping, dining and doing touristy things you want to spend the evening relaxing. There are tonnes of spas in London city, book in a massage and some treatments, sit by the pool or in the hot tub and generally relax. A great girly day out where you could spend some quality time with a friend or relative, drink a few glasses of champagne and enjoy being pampered.

Have Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Drink tea or champagne and enjoy some fancy nibbles from mini pastries to finger sandwiches. Afternoon tea is usually held in lovely cafes or restaurants so you have nice peaceful surrounding while you dine. Perhaps you want an intimate date with your partner that’s a little different from drinks or dinner, or maybe you’re looking to catch up with a girlfriend. Either way, afternoon tea is a great choice for a relaxing afternoon.

Visit a Shisha Lounge
Shisha is popular in Asia and the Middle East, and has caught on here in the UK. A shisha lounge will give you the chance to enjoy this flavoured tobacco (it tastes nothing like cigarettes so no worries if you’re a non smoker!) Again you will be in very chilled surroundings and can have a drink, some food and a gossip while enjoying the shisha.

Go For a Picnic
Sure, right now isn’t the right time of year to be heading out to Hyde Park with a picnic basket full of treats. But if you’re planning a visit for the spring or summer, a lovely alfresco lunch surrounded by greenery could be the way to go. While London’s parks do get busy you’re still away from the bustle of the city, and as long as you avoid bank holidays you’ll be fine. If you’re planning on visiting in the week this is a particularly good option since there will be less people around. You could pack up a picnic from home, or buy some sandwiches, cakes, pastries and other goods from some of London’s wonderful cafes and bakeries.

Hire a Boat

Is there anything more relaxing than an afternoon on the water? There are all kinds of boats you can hire on the river Thames, whether you want to stay overnight in a houseboat or just have some dinner there will be something for you. You get fantastic views of the city skyline and can take it all in from a distance, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Stay Gorgeous
