Create Your Own Adventure

When was the last time you thought hard about going on an adventure? Probably when you were a young child, right? Adventuring in the woods and finding a mysterious cabin full of surprises was probably one of the things you dreamed about in the past when you were more adventurous. Perhaps you wanted to explore a mountain instead by climbing up a snowy and harsh path to conquer it. Whatever you dreamed of doing in the past, it’s never too late to create your own adventure and do something fulfilling and amazing.

Planning an adventure

The first phase of your adventure is to plan it. Don’t think of it in terms of where you want to go, think of it in terms of what you want to do. For instance, do you want to climb mountains? Then consider a trip to someplace like Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak, or Mount Khuiten, one of the world’s most remote and quiet peaks. What about a foodie adventure? Perhaps you could sample all of the delicious treats that China has to offer, from spicy Szechuan cuisine to Chinese-Islamic cuisine in the Xinjiang Province, or perhaps you want to explore Portugal for some of the world’s most famous seafood dishes.

Just keep in mind that when you plan an adventure, plan around what you want to do, eat, or experience, not the location.

Equipping yourself

A traveller’s checklist, such as the one found here at www.theworldaccordingtojess.co.uk is going to be indispensable to your travels. The golden rule is that you should always back as little as possible. Instead, you should rely on what resources you have in the countries that you visit. For instance, you won’t need to carry essentials such as toilet paper because, chances are, there are plenty of places to get tissues. You’ll also need some medication depending on where you travel, so be sure to research the country you visit before you get on the plane.

You’re also going to need travel documents such as a passport, and occasionally a visa depending on where you want to go. For instance, if you want to travel to America, then you’re going to need a visa or, alternatively, you could apply for an ESTA at www.official-esta.com which is essentially a visa waiver. They’re cheaper, faster to process and much more convenient if you living in an eligible country.

Bring a friend

Travelling alone is quiet and enjoyable, but experiencing your adventures and travelling together with friends and family members is far more enjoyable. Not only will you get to share memories together, it also removes some of the inevitable anxiety you get from travelling on your own.

If you’re feeling a little anxious about going on an adventure on your own, then consider speaking to friends or family and ask them if they’d like to come along with you. It’s going to take some planning to sync your free schedules, but it’ll be worth it in the long run.
