Laura Mercier Makeup || Review

When the festive period comes around, it's hard not to have a look at the new Christmas Collections. This can be said for a lot of the beauty products I have been trying out the last couple of months. Laura Mercier is one brand I am starting to develop and relationship with, and so far it is going well. The main reason I went to the Laura Mercier counter was for the Loose Setting Powder, but that never means that I will only walk away with what I went into for, so lets get to it.

This stuff is amazing, especially for setting under eye makeup. This powder is very fine, similar to the Makeup Forever HD Powder, just without the scent. The pot is fairly large, and you only need a couple of taps into the lid to powder the whole face. I picked up the Translucent shade, which is a true translucent, not color great when you want to stay the color of your foundation. For us oily skinned people, our best friend it true translucent shades as most foundations oxidize and become slightly darker and adding color on top of that will just make us look even darker.

There is nothing bad to say about this product it is just amazing and great for all skin types. Though it is pricey as it is high end, but, it is worth it as it will last a long time as you need the tiniest amount for your face.

Part of the Christmas collection, it is just perfect for travel. The packaging is super cute, with its tortoise shell/leopard print case, inside are 6 beautiful shadows and a blush and highlight. There are 2 matte shadows (Vanilla Nuts (white) and Plum Haze (dark deep purple)) and 4 shimmery shadows (Steal Pink (light dusty gold), Guava (baby pink), Boudoir (bronze) and Copper Mettle (brown)). The shimmer shades are very creamy and pigmented and glide on so easily on the lids, the matte shades feel a little more powdery but still glide on. I feel that the matte shades are great as bases, but the shimmer shades are definitely my favorite. The blush shade is again very pigmented so you need to blend it out well or build it up gradually. The shade is a beautiful blush pink shade called Lotus Pink and will look beautiful on all skin tones. Finally the highlight shade Meringue, a beautiful pigmented champagne shade. It is so easy to apply and feels really creamy and give the most beautiful highlight.

I would recommend this palette to all as it will make a great travel palette, but if you are more on the bright side of shadows then it might not be for you. But, it is perfect for every day and night looks, just fabulous.

Smokey Eye Set (£17.50)
This set I think is an over stock product from a previous collection, as I can't find it anywhere online, but it is available in House of Fraser stores. But the set comes with a mini eyeliner, mascara and a tube of gel shadow. The gel shadow is kind of why I picked up this set as it reminded me of the OCC Lip Tars for your eyes.The mini liner is in Jet Black, great as I love black kohl liner, and after a few uses it has become a lot softer and glides on smooth and very pigmented. The product lasts a long time on the eyes, though it isn't waterproof. The mini mascara is their Full Blown Volume Supreme Lash Building Mascara (what a name) in black. It is very black and makes the lashes look long with a bit of volume, it is just a perfect size for travel and will last a while as I have so many mascaras that I won't need to use it every day. Finally the Eye Glaze in Black Diamond, a beautiful black color with golden shimmer running through it. To use the strange product you take a tiny blob and apply it to the lid, by itself it looks like a glaze of black with a lot of shimmer. But, apply it onto a black shadow and it really makes the look pop, by adding golden shimmer to an even darker eye. It drys beautifully on the lid and is easy to remove so you don't have to worry about it being difficult to remove.

These products are amazing and really do help make a smokey eye look even more dramatic and beautiful. Perfect for all, from beginners in smokey eyes to pros, it just works for everyone.

And that's it, all these beautiful products from Laura Mercier, so go check them out when you are next there.
