Autumn/Winter Lips

Friday, September 12, 2014

I love autumn/winter time, as it gets close to Christmas and that warm fuzzy feeling you get with your family. I love wearing fluffy snugly jumpers as well as the bad Christmas jumpers, with all those autumn/winter colors starting to show their faces. When the colors start to show its time to crack out the autumn/winter lips that make you feel a lot more Chirstmasy and autumn ready. This post is all about the lips I like to wear during the winter months.

Purple Vamp

I love this bold lip look, it just gives a glamours dark lip, great for evenings out. Paired with just a basic nude eye as well as making your lips look a lot whiter. This blue tones plumb purple color is great for pale skin tones and being matte makes your lips look a lot more professional. If it was a gloss finish the color may look a bit messy, but if you are after a more glossy look then just add a little bit of purple plumb gloss to the center of the lips. I have used Sleek Eau La La Liner in Venom and Revlon Matte Balm in Shameless.

Winter Berry

I love a nice deep berry red shade in the winter, it looks classy and perfect match with the changing leaves. Again teamed with a nude eye would look great as a day or night look, blend the color slightly to create a more natural look for day and go bold for the evening. It's a great color if you don't want to go the full bright red lip. For this look I use the Ted Baker Lip Crayon (unknown shade as it was from a set).

Plumb Gloss

When I am after an effortless glossy lip with a hint of color, I will grab a plumb/berry colored gloss. This look is great for a day look as the color isn't too bold and opaque and looks really natural on the lips. Being a gloss my lips will stay hydrated in the cold winter weather, with them still looking stylish. You can team this gloss with a nude to semi smokey eye as it is sheer, great for a smokey eye for evenings out. To get this look I have used the Maybelline Color Elixir 135 Raspberry Rhapsody.

Full Vamp

This is a look not for the faint hearted, I would suggest it would be better on tanned or darker skin as it can make you look a bit dead or Gothic on pale skin. But, this color is great with a nude eye and light contour, and it is definitely a evening shade of lip for more fairer skinned people. This color would look better into winter more than autumn, but it is definitly more darker than the Purple Vamp look. To get this look I have used Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 663 Va Va Violet.

Red Velvet

This is the obvious bold lip color, a bold matte red lip. Great for a pin-up look, and great for any skin type, as it is matte it will not look too over the top. Autumn/winter is a great time to wear and tryout bold lips, so if you have never tried a bold red lip go ahead a have a go. It looks great with a nude eye and winged liner, you could go for a semi-smokey eye with neutral colors for an evening look. To get this look I used the Kiko Velvet Collection Lipstick in 606 (Unknown shade as it doesn't have one).

Ice Queen

For those days that you don't want a bold lip or berry lip, go for a frosted/shimmer lip. I have used a light/baby pink lipstick with silver shimmer running trough it, which gives a frost queen look to the lips. It looks great when you have a frosty morning in winter and looks perfect with a dark, smokey eye. Having a light color on the lips, almost gives them a nude color to them great for day looks and evening looks. It is also a great break for your lips to go for a more neutral color as dark colors can stain the lips. I have used Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in 109 Rosy Dream to get this look.
