Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation Review

Duty free can be a been problem for me, with loads of beauty items at cheap prices it can be hard to resist temptation. With a wait time of 3 hours temptation got to me and I cracked picking up the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

I've heard good things about this very pricey foundation and have always wanted to try it. I do own the Chanel Perfection Lumiere, which is a high coverage matte foundation with a highly floral scent. Being a person who loves full coverage foundations the Aqua foundation is a sheer foundation not anything I usually go for. Having a Chanel foundation before I wasn't sure whether it would have the strong floral scent, which is actually a bit sickly. As well as the scent and coverage I wasn't to sure about the consistency as it is a more liquid foundation. Being more watery I had heard reviews saying that they wouldn't suggest this foundation to someone with oily skin (which I have). So I had all these potential negatives towards this foundation it was a wonder why I purchased it, but I did.

Getting home from Cyprus, we had an ITV event to attend so I thought that would be a good time to try out my new foundation, with a back up just in case. The consistency was watery but was very easy to apply t the skin and in fact it was a little stiffer than water. The coverage was sheer but built up to be a bit more on a medium coverage side and with concealer it didn't look half bad. There was a hint of a scent but nothing as strong as the Perfection Lumiere, it was actually quite pleasant and grown-up. My usual problem with foundations is that they usually oxidize on my skin fairly badly and become a lot more orange, but this foundation didn't oxidize as much and my skin look normal for once. It is very light weight on the skin and feels like there is nothing there, great for a no makeup makeup day.

The real test is to see how long it would last throughout the day, being subjected to lighting and heat might change my mind. To start with there wasn't much movement to the foundation to start with and stayed fairly flawless by the end of the day. However, it did start to slip by the late evening, being a water based foundation the moisture from my skin added to the consistency and started to have it over dewy. Using this foundation several times since then I have been very happy with the results, I have also added this foundation on top of BB balms to create more coverage and a flawless complexion.

Over all this foundation has been great, it is just a shame that it is highly priced, at £33 (House of Fraser). Though, if you are flying away this summer I would definitely suggest to purchase it in duty free as I only paid £25 (approx. 30 Euros).
